Chapter 37: Interlude from Selkies' Skins: Castle and Well is now available for the webnovel. If you've been enjoying the story and haven't donated yet then please consider doing so. Donations help make it so that I can actually afford to post the webnovel format at free while experimenting with this model of gaining new readers. The glossary is receiving an update. This stems from an accident in recording the audiobook that was too awesome an idea to discard. As such, Illya Leonov now makes an important contribution to the Mermishdian language and culture through his work.
The original entry: Mermishdian – One of several undersea languages The new entry: Mermishdian – One of several undersea languages. This word is pronounced differently than it is spelled, as several of the words in this language are. When read, it is Mermishandian. The greatest trick in learning to speak/sing the language is knowing where the hidden syllables are and how they change the meaning. Future books in the series will have this change reflected in their glossary, as it is a language that will be referenced from time to time through the entire series of books. When it is time to reissue the print editions the new editions will also have the definition expansion. Those books that have the original entry will be able to be considered collector editions. I saw a very nice review on Amazon for Selkies' Skins: Castle and Well.
I would like to point out that the werewolves in my book aren't Twilight based (though there was a tongue in cheek reference...I don't think that Kirsty and her group would be among those that would closely follow the series by the time that would enter their timestream). David probably wouldn't be too pleased to be compared to those. David is actually a character created by my dear heart. That is why he's a werewolf. I don't think he's a fan of Twilight either. However there is another reason that Kirsty is so drawn to David. This has to do with the divergence in hunters between the sea and the land. The book series is dealing with more than one theme and each deity has their own things that the two must navigate. I am looking forward to getting the books to the point where that is addressed more fully. I could have changed things to go with bears...but in my opinion wolves are sleeker and closer to the energies of Mara's children. Although Mara would want to reestablish closer ties with all land based hunters, wolves would be among her most favorite, especially with Herne having chosen them as his closest. I still expect the full storyline to cover three or four books, each divided into sections of three (and there is a numerological reason for that) For those following the webnovel edition, Chapter 36 is up of book one in Selkies' Skins.
It's a little late because I lost track of time, but the first half of Chapter 25 (Tampered) is now available in the webnovel version of Selkies' Skins: Castle and Well.
We are very close to getting an extra posting in the schedule. April 6th I will be on my way home from a family reunion at Crescent City, but if the scales get tipped over the extra post line, then I'll find a way to get that extra post up. There's 39 chapters in book one, so we still have some time together for this story. Remember that I'll be taking a posting break between books so that I have time to generate a backlog of posts, especially as I've got both Dragon Shaman #3 and Selkies' Skins #2 on my plate along with editing a prayerbook (due out later this year) and a children's picture book both on this year's publishing docket with the company. |
